Dr Reddy's in US drug launchIndian pharmaceutical major Dr Reddy's Laboratories has launched Memantine Hydrochloride tablets in the US market following an approval from the United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA).The tablet is a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Namenda (memantine HCl) tablets, a registered trademark of Merz Pharma GmbH & Co. KGaA. The brand had US sales of approximately $1.4 billion for the most recent 12 months ending in May 2015, according to IMS Health. It is generally used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.Dr Reddy's Memantine Hydrochloride tablets 5 mg is available in bottle count size of 60 and the Memantine Hydrochloride tablets 10 mg are available in bottle count sizes of 60 and 500, the Hyderabad-based company said.Stocks of Dr Reddy's Laboratories jumped nearly 2 per cent in trade to hit an all-time high after the US launch.Hero MotoCorp to acquire US assetsIndia's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp will acquire some assets of USbased Eric Buell Racing for $2.8 million as part of a settlement agreement.The settlement agreement was signed between HMCL (NA) Inc and HMCL Americas Inc - both entities of Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL) - and the receiver appointed by the Circuit Court, Wisconsin, US, in the bankruptcy matter filed by Erik Buell Racing (EBR) and Erik Buell LLC, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.“As part of the settlement, the HMCL Americas has agreed to acquire the ownership of certain tangible and intangible assets of EBR Entities, free and clear of all encumbrances, for a consideration of $2.8 million,” the company said Hero MotoCorp said the performance of the settlement agreement will help the company's in-house research and development teams accelerate development of certain consulting projects, including the projects EBR was executing for Hero MotoCorp, it added.US tycoon eyes Tata Steel UKAn American tycoon is reportedly in last-minute talks to seal a takeover of Tata Steel's UK steel works.Switzerland-based commodities magnate Gary Klesch is trying to finalise a deal to buy the UK section of Tata's “long products” unit, UK news reports claimed.The unit has about 6,500 staff and steel plants in Scunthorpe, Teesside, Dalzell and Clydebridge in Scotland, and also France and Germany. The Scunthorpe site in northern England, which is under discussion as part of the agreement is the largest of all.The Tata group last week wrote down the value of the long steels division to zero with a £500 million provision, paving the way for the sale. It blamed the writedown on the “supply imbalance facing the global steel industry”. The division has struggled amid stagnant European construction markets.The tycoon set up Klesch Group in 1990, growing it into a €5 billion empire spanning chemicals, metals and oil. Based in Geneva, it has more than 2,000 staff in about 30 locations.Wendy's takes bite of Indian marketOne of America's leading global burger chains, Wendy's, has made its debut in India.Sierra Nevada Restaurants, a joint venture between International Market Management (UK) and Rollatainers Ltd (India), is the master franchise partner for the Wendy's brand in the country.Sanjay Chabbra, director of Sierra Nevada, said: “We have plans to add 8-10 stores every year and will have about 20 restaurants in the next two years, as part of the initial expansion plans.” The initial rollout will be largely focused on North India, with the first store in Gurgaon.The company claims to have worked on the concept for nearly two years and has customised the menu for the Indian palate in both vegetarian and meat options. The master franchise will operate these stores as it will focus on building the brand in the country.
